Even with their tenth album on the horizon, it’s nice to see Biffy Clyro continuing to treat their music like an event. As one of the few rock bands with as much capital in dedicated rock spaces as mainstream ones, they frankly deserve to. It’s always felt earned, too; they’re a band now for whom overreaching isn’t a concern to have. A fair few spots of radio omnipresence will do that, after all.
So here they are, a couple of months before Futique takes life, with the first of two shows at Cornwall’s Eden Project. These are usually pretty special, not just for an environment that prizes the biodiversity of its surroundings above all else, but for the fact they tend to be more intimate stops on an act’s docket. For Biffy, a capacity of a few thousand is something that’s well within expectations by now. It’s an indelibly special feeling, one that we sent our resident Biffy stan Maryleen down to Cornwall to catch.
