It’s a chilly Tuesday night in Manchester, but it’s clear and crisp, making a nice change from the usual winter rain. This evening’s line-up dives into the extreme and heavy, and with each band bringing their own distinctive character, it’s certain to be a thrilling show.

North Carolina’s Larcenia Roe is first to take to the stage. It’s their first time in the UK, and the deathcore outfit is gaining notable traction in the extreme scene, having recently debuted their new single Lean at the Nocturnal Awards back in early December. They make themselves memorable kicking off their show to an audio step-by-step description on how to clean your teeth. As the voiceover soon turns demonic the band strike with an incredibly well balanced and utterly brutal sound. The setlist is unyielding throughout from the slam attack of Carolina Crowd Killer to the nightmarish Lullaby. Larcenia Roe knows exactly what they’re doing slamming breakdown after breakdown and Ryan Vail’simpressive vocal display, though I perhaps wouldn’t recommend trusting them with your pearly whites.

The Australian / UK ensemble Aversions Crown shroud the stage in their technical infused blackened deathcore. Vocalist, and fellow Northerner, Yorkshireman Alex Teyen commands the stage with ferocious harsh throughout. The band’s old favourite Erebus from their 2017 album Xenocide makes an appearance along with the high intensity Born In The Gutter, Ophiophagy and from the latest release, A Voice from the Outer Dark. Bleeding through their performance, discordant synths establish an atmospheric backdrop to their sound. Manipulating dynamics, Aversions Crown incorporate minimalist moments focusing on the fierce harsh against the dissonant synths before returning to attack with thunderous distortion.

Within Destruction throwdown a mix of less traditional deathcore in their high energy set. The outfit from Slovenia have diversified their sound over the years, most recently with the 2025 album ANIMETAL. An anime-inspired intro track kicks off their set with strobe lighting filling the stage in a purple glow—it’s certainly a mood shift from the previous performances. Exploding into life with their latest album’s title track, it’s a fury of riffs and electronics. Across the tracks, Howard Fang’s intricate guitar playing is matched with his soaring clean vocals that perfectly complement the aggression from Rok Rupnik’s harshes. Alongside the unapologetic energy and technical prowess, Within Destruction also showcase their melodic side. The setlist includes Neo-Yakuza, Hide & Sick and the dark anthem CYBERGIRL before No Way Out serves an explosive finale.

Chicago’s Born Of Osiris unleash a destructive headline set. The band’s progressive, technical sound, immersed in electronics, draws from deathcore and metalcore realms, and beyond. Functioning as a tight unit with the new touring line-up, this well-oiled machine manifests a huge live sound that is highly polished. Frontman Ronnie Canizaro’s powerful gutturals are enhanced with bassist Dan Marinaro’s backing harsh and contrast powerfully with his cleans. Nick Rossi, while handling synth duties, unveils a flurry of intricate playing across the fretboard alongside Travis Montgomery of Threat Signal. Plus, anyone who has seen Born Of Osiris live before will be more than familiar with drummer Cameron Losch’s powerful playing. From crowd favourite the catchy Angel Or Alien to the eerie and progressive Inverno, Born Of Osiris present a formidable and magnetic performance.
