White Denim are the best kind of niche band. That is, they’re a band who will not (and probably should not) appeal to everybody, but when you dig in and see they released their 12th album at the end of last year, it puts into perspective a career that’s been chugging along for over two decades. And when they occupy a space in the jammier side of rock—bits of indie, psychedelic rock, garage-rock, and even dub and prog—it can be more than a little daunting to even consider. Still, on a UK tour where they’re boasting a setlist of more than 30 songs, you’re undoubtedly getting a satisfying fix. As they arrive in Bristol’s SWX, Ross Peacey went down to check it out.
