Although his commercial peak was a full decade ago with his debut Coming Home, Leon Bridges has still been out there ever since. Of the current class of soul and R&B classicists, his acclaim has remained tremendous, all the way up to last year’s Leon and an added ambition it brought to a sound that typically keeps its distance. Add on his collaborative EPs with psychedelic rock band Khruangbin that’s broadened his reach further, and it’s no wonder that Bridges has become such a sought-after name on this UK run. As he stops in Manchester, Ben Whitehurst headed over to check it out.
