PHOTOS: Pulled Apart By Horses – Future Yard, Birkenhead – 23/01/2026

While Birkenhead’s Future Yard is far from the climes that Pulled Apart By Horses inhabited at their peak, you get the impression that it doesn’t really matter. They’re alt- and garage-rock lifers at this point, carving their own path with little care for big, mainstream machinations. And while it’s been a little quiet on their end lately—their last album was 2022’s Reality Cheques—grinding to a halt doesn’t feel in their purview.

If that weren’t enough, tonight’s show also doubles as the opening of 2026’s Onomatoposter exhibition. It’s a showcase of screen prints and gig poster artwork from around the world, the sort of cool thing you get from an all-purpose space like Future Yard that rolls into regular live space. It’s also the sort of thing that really feels in line with Pulled Apart By Horses’ ethos as a band, with creative spirit and tenacity placed at a premium. Maryleen Guevara headed over to check it out.
