Compared to their last UK jaunt opening for Volbeat in arenas, Bristol’s Strange Brew is a slight downscaling for Witch Fever. In fairness, though, this is where they feel more at home. Their intersection between rabid punk and dark, impervious gloom gets a lot more mileage in these more grassroots spaces. That’s on top of last year’s FEVEREATEN, an album that really pushed Witch Fever forward creatively, a freshly blackened coat of paint on what’s already one of UK rock’s more unique prospects. With electro-punk noisemakers Cowboy Hunters and dark-rock risers CHIG in tow, Ross Peacey headed down to catch the action.
