The high regard held by Way Out West is not unknown, by any means. In fact, it’s considered one of Sweden’s premier music festivals, both within the country and internationally. Even then, that’s tied to factors of atmosphere, accessibility and sustainability; it’s not even touching on lineups regularly awash with high-profile names in pop, indie and electronic music. 2025, then, finds its highlights spanning similar corners of the musical map—Fontaines D.C. and Wet Leg represent the top bracket of indie-rock and post-punk, with Iggy Pop handily holding veteran status; Little Simz is one of the most lauded hip-hop artists around; CMAT’s country-pop has been making some truly serious waves; and Molly Sandén is the sort of pop act whose appeal is more limited to the content, and so naturally goes down a treat. It’s a great set of names for this year’s bill, captured here by Alan Brown.
