As much of an acquired taste as La Dispute can be, you can’t deny their appeal. Few bands in post-hardcore have the literate, knotted layers of spoken bloodletting that they do, a feature that persists to this day in making them such a magnetic prospect. As difficult as last year’s No One Was Driving The Car was, it was also in a league of its own in terms of intensely detailed and packaged storytelling. They’re also basically lifers at this stage, destined to never be the biggest band (for obvious reasons), but always holding firm in their standing.
