The Script are arguably bigger now for the factors around them than their actual music. More accurately, they’re part of the standard within the pop culture of the UK, where Danny O’Donoghue has generally kept the name afloat as a coach on The Voice for a bit, without too much of a boon to their latter-day work. You might not even realise that The Script released their seventh album just this year; you’re probably even less aware that they’re currently on a world tour to promote it. For a band who, to many, have drifted into the pop doldrums, it almost seems absurd.

Having said that, The Script were a pretty big deal. They notched up genuine hits in the UK and especially Ireland, with a ubiquity in the late 2000s for Breakeven and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved that was hard to miss. Inertia and pop unshakability does leave an impact, y’know, even almost 20 years later. So, joined by Tom Walker, The Script’s world tour rolls into Liverpool, with Maryleen there to catch the whole thing.
