It’s always great to see a bill like this—no obvious weak links, and variety still has enough shared creative juice to keep the pace rolling. It speaks to the rude health of metal as a whole, where deathcore mainstays Fit For An Autopsy and perennially slept-on thrashers Sylosis can join forces, rather than get lost in the minutiae of sub-genre pedantry. While this is an entire European run, the UK leg is the only one billed as a co-headliner, an interesting distinction that only plays into the rising-tide philosophy of this side of metal all the more.
Joining them are metalcore lifers Darkest Hour and the current faces of death-metal-flavoured hardcore Heriot, to reinforce just how markedly excellent this whole scene currently is. Again, there’s barely a single hole to pick here, as Maryleen heads to Manchester to capture one of the year’s most unsung metal masterclasses.
