So here we are at Arctangent 2025, the weirder, nattier, more out-there cousin of 2000trees. However, just like the crowd over at Upcote Farm, there’s none more dedicated to their cause than those who descend upon Fernhill Farm each year for their dose of strange prog, noise and post-metal. And you can tell the impact that’s had from just how wide the draw now is—in 2025, you’ve got prominent sets from Between The Buried And Me, TesseracT, Karnivool; legends like Mew and Melvins; and even as a purely early-bird draw, Wardruna for a dose of Viking-folk that a big, outdoor festival would usually be hesitant to platform.
Of course, there are oddities that go even further beyond that—see Clown Core and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum for the true apex—but at heart, Arctangent still carries its huge festival figure in stride. Between longtime favourites like Rolo Tomassi, Unprocessed and Future Of The Left, those flirting with crossover status like Green Lung, Giant Walker and Coilguns, and the slew of niche hitters like Emma Ruth Rundle, Mt. Onsra and Sometime In February, there’s plenty to dive into. James Crisp headed down for us to catch all the mayhem.
