PHOTOS: Dead Dads Club – Deaf Institute, Manchester – 10/09/2025

If the name Dead Dads Club doesn’t ring a bell, the name at its epicentre, Chilli Jesson, might. He’s been a figure in the indie scene for a little while, once the bassist and vocalist for Palma Violets, and also currently serving as a live player in Fontaines D.C.. This is where his main efforts appear to be focused now, though, in an indie-rock / post-punk sound that’s not unfamiliar, but certainly wears the pedigree of an artist who’s lived in this space for a while. It’s also the kind of outfit prone to blowing up with the right exposure, so don’t expect to see them in rooms as small as Manchester’s Deaf Institute for long. While they are there, however, Dean Cavanagh headed down to catch the action.
