At a time when indie breakthroughs seem to take hold whenever and to whomever they please, it’s not really a ‘surprise’ to see Divorce’s picked-up steam this year, but they aren’t the obvious candidate for it, either. Drive To Goldenhammer pretty much sat in a field of one in 2025, where it’s unconventional personality was driven most by a pronounced alt-country streak, rather than anything to ‘normal’. And while other bands have gotten bigger from decidedly weirder templates, Divorce had a really strong album on their hands this year, and a decent-sized UK tour to round things off is a good capstone to months of indisputable success. Dean Cavanagh headed down to Manchester’s Academy 2 to check it out.
