The Spring bank holiday finds Warrington’s Victoria Park hosting Neighbourhood Weekender, one of the many UK festival’s parading the current and classic indie hotness for all to see. Before those festivities get underway, though, there’s a bit of a different pre-show bash. The Human League are very much not the tipple of choice of your regular Neighbourhood bill. Compared to headliners proper Richard Ashcroft and Blossoms, one of the most successful and foundational synthpop bands in history is a pretty significant stretch. It’s a fun one, though, especially when that legacy is so storied, and with the ever-unconventional environment of a festival tent for an act like this. With fellow ‘80s pop long-standers ABC onboard, it’s a real, true-blue throwback evening, caught by Ben Whitehurst.
