Although the crowning jewels of their legacy are a handful of omnipresent indie hits of the 2000s, The Coral have had a pretty good run over the last three decades. 13 albums under their belt; no breakups or hiatuses; a genuinely dedicated fanbase; a group of indie lifers couldn’t ask for much more. There’s a respectability about The Coral that continues to drive them, eschewing grand, flashy swings for a career of solid, ongoing motion. The fact they’re still enough of a draw for Manchester’s Albert Hall speaks to that pedigree, as does the audience willing to brave Storm Austen to be here. Said weather does put paid to Mozart Arcade’s support slot, but The Zutons’ Dave McCabe is on hand to step in (and likely do a better job). Dean Cavanagh also made his way down to catch the whole thing.
