It goes without saying that Public Service Broadcasting are one of the most unique bands out there, and have been for the duration of their lifetime. Theirs is a very comprehensive and different approach to art-rock, built on eclectic instrumental lineups and historical samples of media broadcasts that gives their work a distinctly high-end feel. They’re the only band featured on this site who’ve had access to the British Film Institute’s archives, and we can say that with dead certainty. Their newest album The Last Flight centres on the disappearance of Amelia Earhart and her navigator on their final voyage, another fittingly PBS-ian topic approached in their own way. It’s only the latest in their seemingly never-ending line of acclaimed projects, as they bring it on tour to their next stop at Liverpool’s Olympia.
