By now, CMAT needs no introduction. Her reputation for a both-barrels live show, a wonderfully wry indie-country-pop sound and the best of it all on last year’s EURO-COUNTRY has travelled for miles. There’s width as well as breadth, too; the number of festival bills in which CMAT has felt like such an obvious outlier is significant, yet she’s been a highlight every single time. It doesn’t look set to change, either. She’s in full-blown superstar mode now, arriving at The Piece Hall in Halifax for another open goal of a live show. Amongst the craic, country-pop bangers and Kate Bush covers, Dean Cavanagh was there to catch it all.
