It’s time for another big, outdoor summer show, of which 2025 has been particularly bountiful for. This time, it’s at The Piece Hall in Halifax, known in recent years for its impressive array of events spanning much greater breadths than others of their kind. Sure, the likes of Gary Barlow and Olly Murs are safe, expected picks, but there’s already been appearances from Pendulum and Deftones this year, to put it into perspective. Here’s another one—Weezer making one of their rare UK visits which, this time, has seen them at Download, Glastonbury, and Crystal Palace Park where they crossed paths with Chino Moreno’s lot.
It’s the aforementioned rarity that ultimately benefits Weezer most of all. Yes, their recent work—as in, for the last two decades—has been spotty at best, and they haven’t released anything at all since the ill-advised SZNZ EPs in 2022, but come on—it’s Weezer! Pretty much every alt-rock fan holds a candle for them and how important they’ve been within the genre. The fact they’re so infrequent to come around bulldozes any complaints and reservations out of necessity. So, as they touch down at The Piece Hall with Bad Nerves and Teen Mortgage in tow, Dean Cavanagh headed to Halifax to catch one of alt-rock’s true bastions do their thing.
