Outside of their spiritual progenitors The Prodigy, few even come close to Pendulum’s crossover clout between rock and electronic music. They release Inertia this year, their first album in 15 years, and one whose title evidently couldn’t be more accurate, seeing as they’re back to enjoying enormous success within both tribes. Next year, they’ll be a prominent name at Download, among the likes of Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Guns N’ Roses; tonight, they’ve got a show as part of Manchester’s Warehouse Project among a swathe of dance music luminaries. And considering that there’s still currently no one who’s nailed the metal / drum ‘n’ bass fusion as succinctly as Pendulum, their continued enormity isn’t surprising in the least. Ben Whitehurst headed down to Depot Mayfield to catch the action.
