The tide of provocative, mobilising Irish music doesn’t seem to be letting up, apparently. In fact, in Madra Salach, it might just have a new figurehead. They’re still on the rise with their debut EP It’s A Hell Of An Age only coming out in January, but a sold-out UK tour of this size clearly means something. Manchester’s New Century Hall is no small space, and the contemporary variant of Celtic folk wouldn’t fill it without some serious momentum. It’s not unlike the current run of The Mary Wallopers, a band whose ascent could easily foreshadow what’s to come for Madra Salach very soon. Dean Cavanagh headed down to catch the action.
